Cranmore Village - Cranmore, Dean, East Cranmore, Waterlip

2022 represented a fantastic year both on and off the field for Cranmore Cricket Club. The club fielded a first and second XI in the Somerset Cricket League as well as a Sunday league side and after an absence of around 15 years the return of a junior section with weekly sessions held at the ground attracting around 25 youth players over the course of the year with ages ranging from 5 to 13 years old. Josh who ran the junior sessions also ran 4 days of introductory taster sessions at St Aldhelm's Primary School in Doulting through the summer and the club is looking forward to the juniors continuing their growth in 2023.

On the field the first XI enjoyed a memorable season - sealing a second consecutive promotion to Division 2 of the Somerset league for the upcoming season which represents the highest level the club has played at in its history. They also achieved memorable success in winning the T20 County Cup competition with a thrilling victory over Yeovil CC at Taunton the home of Somerset Cricket Club, again marking another first in the clubs history.

The second XI continued as the bedrock of the club and completed a season filled with some memorable individual performances providing a platform for regular cricket for both newcomers to the club and sport as well as a large number of seasoned club veterans continuing to play the sport they love throughout the summer months.

Also notably 2022 saw the commencement of works to improve and replace the previous facilities at the sports ground to ensure that the facilities available to players and the local community are fit for purpose and keep pace with the on field strides the club has made. The development work has been made possible through the support of the parish council and Mendip Council as well as assistance from local businesses to finance the project. There is still some work to be done to finalise the funding of the project to completion but through the support of the sources mentioned before the majority of the project is now fully funded. Building work is well underway at the ground with the intention of the new structure being in place midway through 2023.

As the club looks to continue growing and building for a prosperous future there are plenty of opportunities for involvement in the club in a variety of capacities in both playing and non-playing roles. All new players are welcome of any age, ability and experience within the framework of the teams that the club runs for anyone interested in continuing their cricketing career or looking to try a new sport and challenge in their summer months, as the club continues to provide accessible exercise and recreation for our local community. The club also wishes to continue building on our strong community links within the village and beyond and any businesses or individuals interested in supporting and working in partnership with the club are also welcomed in any capacity.
